Gum Disease

Also known as periodontal disease.

Primarily caused by bacterial plaque and calculus.

Additional factors such as genetic, cigarettes smoking, tobacco chewing, compromised immune system, uncontrolled diabetes, can increase the incidence of gum disease.

Sign : red, swollen, tender gum, bleeding on brushing or flossing, persistent bad breath.

Prevention : oral hygiene maintenance including daily brushing and flossing, and regular cleaning every 4-6 months in a dental office.
